Iedereen kan vechten, maar slechts weinigen kunnen boksen. Boksen, ’the noble art of self defence’, is een tactische vechtsport waarbij (ring)inzicht, de coördinatie van voeten, ogen, handen en conditie centraal staan. Twee tegenstanders proberen punten te scoren door elkaar op de juiste trefvlakken te raken. Dat kan door enkele stoten of een combinatie van verschillende stoten. Snelheid is hierbij belangrijker dan kracht. Daarom is boksen geen krachtsport ‘pur sang’, maar een combinatie van kracht, uithoudingsvermogen en tactiek.
